| Biography: Lotus Effect is a progressive-alternative rock band out of Houston, TX. With comparisons to Muse, Soul Asylum and At The Drive-In, Lotus Effect combines gritty guitar, soulful bass lines, and complex rhythms with melodically aggressive vocals to create anthemic progressive rock accessible to music listener's of all genres.
Since 2009, Lotus Effect has performed with such nationally touring acts as Semi-Precious Weapons and Nico Vega. They opened for Major League Soccer Team Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium, played Texas Rockfest 2010 at SXSW, headlined Houston radio station 94.5FM The Buzz "Texas Music Showcase" and The United Musicians Alliance Stage at Mardi Gras Galveston. Lotus Effect recently released their latest EP "Rabbits and Royalty", produced by Mike Thompson of Ivory Tower Studios (Close Your Eyes - Victory Records, American Fangs - InDeGoot Management) and mastered by Bob Boyd of Ambient Digital (MuteMath, Our Lady Peace.) | Press Release: Management and booking: lotusfxmusic@gmail.com Lotus Effect: www.lotuseffectmusic.com May 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Houston Band Raises Money For Pat Tillman Foundation Lotus Effect, an alternative-progressive rock band from Houston, Texas, release their latest album "Rabbits & Royalty" with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Pablove Foundation (www.pablove.org) and The Pat Tillman Foundation (www.pattillmanfoundation.com). The EP, produced by Mike Thompson of Ivory Tower Studios (Close Your Eyes - Victory Records, American Fangs - Indegoot Management) and mastered by Bob Boyd of Ambient Digital (Mutemath, Our Lady Peace), consists of five original songs that blend gritty alternative rock with complex progressive inclinations and melodically aggressive vocals. Conceptually, "Rabbits & Royalty" draws from pop culture and classic lit, from the opener 'Warhol', inspired by Edie Sedgwick, a muse of Andy Warhol and cousin of Kyra Sedgwick, to 'Mercucio', a modern retelling of Romeo & Juliet. The album also touches on loss from the epic ballad 'Fireflies' which was written about the death of ex-NFL player Pat Tillman in Afghanistan. In honor of Tillman, a portion of the album sales will go to benefit The Pat Tillman Foundation and also The Pablove Foundation which helps children with cancer. "Rabbits & Royalty" is now available on iTunes, Napster.com, and other online digital stores.
